In the 10 months of quarantine

Best read to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas- In the 10 months of quarantine, here’s what brought us glee…

10 Rounds a Slaying

The newest addition to our board game collection is Here to Slay, a turn-based role- playing strategic fantasy card game! The current score is Kristina: 8, Shelby: 2.

9 LEGOs Assembling

All the extra time at home spawned a new love for LEGOs! From dragons to a town square to a giant tree house, nothing kept us more entertained than thousands of little bricks.

8 Recipes Attempting

Best tasting: Blueberry bread pudding; Most time-consuming: 24 layer rainbow crepe cake; Healthiest: Broccoli quinoa cakes; Easiest: Strawberry cheesecake bites.

7 Hikes A-Treking

In the early days of COVID, when we needed to get out of the house, we sought out remote hikes like the 8-mile San Ysidro Trail in Santa Barbara and the Ocean Trails along the coast of Palos Verdes.

6 OK-ish Haircuts

One of our newly acquired skillz during quarantine was giving each other haircuts! Over time, we upgraded our tools and improved our craftsmanship (slightly). Bye bye Supercuts. Hello Kris Kuts!

5 Coaster Sets

One of Kristina’s favorite no-brainer-crafts to do in front of the TV was hand sewing a variety of felt coasters. Her top shows to watch while sewing: The Boys, Utopia, Umbrella Academy, The Great.

4 Tiny Houses

Tweezers aren’t just good for getting out splinters. They’re also the most vital tool while constructing tiny house kits. Each of these houses stand at a whopping 8” tall, took an average of 25 hours to build, and include fancy electrical work to bring them to life.

3 “Books” Concluded

Our 10 months of quarantine definitely weren’t spent reading because in those 293 days we finished three books (two of them were graphic novels): The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Adventure Zone: Petals to the Metal, and Teen Titans: Beast Boy.

2 Finished Puzzles

Every so often we would monopolize the dining table with a jigsaw puzzle. They’re not particularly our favorite use of time, but this 1,000 piece color wheel puzzle was a fun way to challenge our eye for colors. Thank you, Color Theory class!

A Big Decision to Become Three

After trying to start a family for some time, we made the big decision to adopt a baby! We started our adoption journey in August and still have a long road ahead. The average domestic adoption takes 18 months, but we wanted to share our happy news with you now. We can’t wait to have a little one to share adventures with! Here’s to lots of patience, learning, and happy things to look forward to!
