The snow melt rapids of Kern River are not for the faint of heart. This summer on their first camping excursion together, couple Kristina and Shelby Moulden, tested their paddling skills on class four rapids.

As they approached the opening of the Limestone Rapid, their raft smashed into a giant boulder sending Shelby out of his seat. With one foot still in his foothold and paddle still in hand, Shelby took a “swim” as the raft continued on its merry way down the river.

Luckily raft guide, Sydney, saw her fellow rafter in peril and pulled him up to safety. No injuries were reported.
